This page summarizes the information used by CampusShelf and how marketplace features handle it. The policy is also available in the app.
Information used by the app
CampusShelf uses account identifiers and email addresses, academic email domains and campus assignments, listing details and photos, offers and offer messages, pickup locations, notification activity, and purchase or entitlement information. A phone number is optional. The owner may enter a number, confirm that it is theirs, and opt in to sharing after offer acceptance. CampusShelf does not verify ownership; a valid number format is not proof that the owner controls the number. The owner can turn off future sharing or remove the number; information already seen or copied cannot be recalled.
Campus and location
Campus matching and nearby-campus features use the assigned campus and its stored coordinates. The current app code does not request device GPS location for these features.
Listing photos
Listing photos are stored in a private Supabase Storage bucket. The app creates signed links to display photos; those links expire after one hour. Anyone who obtains an active signed link may be able to view the photo until it expires. Seller-uploaded photo URLs are stored separately from catalog cover URL and provider metadata returned by the ISBN lookup. Photo reports store the listing, reporting account, selected reason, and optional details.
Marketplace visibility
Signed-in users can see marketplace information allowed by the app's access rules, such as listing details, campus, and photos. After an offer is accepted, the buyer and seller can see contact and pickup details for coordinating the handoff. This can include the other participant's account email address and the agreed or proposed pickup location. A user-confirmed phone number is included only when its owner has opted in to optional post-acceptance sharing. CampusShelf does not verify ownership.
External services
The app uses Supabase for authentication, database, and storage features; RevenueCat and the platform store for purchase and entitlement features; and Open Library and Library of Congress for book lookup. Book identifiers or search terms are sent to the book lookup service used for a search. Retailer search links can include a book title or ISBN and may include affiliate parameters. When available, catalog cover art returned during ISBN lookup can be shown on browse cards; opening a listing shows the seller-submitted photos instead. Open Library cover images are loaded from its cover service, and a courtesy link to Open Library is provided on cards and in About.
Purchases and account controls
Purchases are started through the platform store and purchase SDKs. The app has controls for restoring purchases and deleting an account in Settings. Account deletion is handled by the app's authenticated backend flow; an unresolved listing boost purchase can pause deletion until its status is verified.
Activity history
The app stores notification history, including limited listing or status details so earlier activity can remain understandable after a related listing or offer changes.
